Fifth graders present social justice-themed spoken word pieces

Fifth graders in Mrs. Heide's class celebrated the culmination of their poetry unit on Friday, March 26!

Over the past month, students have taken a deep dive into a social justice topic of their choice, created a "one-pager" using AVID skills, and studied the style of poets like Amanda Gorman and Brandon Leakes. Using these tools, they crafted their own spoken-word poems to present to their peers.
